The humans behind the bees…
From our award-winning organic farm in Lincolnshire, broadcaster and honeybee farmer Jez Rose established the world’s first certified Carbon Neutral honey farm: Bees & Co.
You may recognise him from BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen, ITV1’s James Martin’s Saturday Morning, or other shows and publications, but Jez is an ethical, artisan beekeeper and with his team care for honeybees on behalf of some of the most iconic brands in Britain. Bees & Co. are the first official beekeepers on the Burghley House Estate in more than 100 years. Through our breeding and reintroduction program we are playing an active part in helping to prevent the decline of the native British honeybee, while our award-winning, raw, 100% British honey, helps showcase the health and taste benefits of true artisan honey.
“According to various recent studies, global insect decline is in abundance of 50 – 75%”
Soil Association, 2020
Recipient of the Green Tourism Gold Award for our seasonal workshops and experience days, the farm and its nectar gardens provide a tranquil environment to learn about beekeeping, mead making and planting for pollinators in an exciting range of exclusive events held throughout the year.
Our hives located here at the farm and in our carefully selected apiaries in the surrounding areas are available for adoption by organisations seeking innovative solutions for corporate social responsibility.
Environmental Impact – positive differences
For us, caring for the environment is central to everything we do.
From planting organic bee-friendly flower seeds, to using recycled packaging and rewarding delegates who car share, cycle or commute with discounts – we recognise just how important the planet is and the positive impact we can all make with a tiny bit more consideration.
Modern Technology – a world first for honey
Our apiaries are covered by CCTV and some of our beehives feature state of the art monitoring technology, which allows us to review the weight, internal temperature, humidity, apiary weather conditions and bee count.
Not only does this provide us with critical information about the hives, home to our beloved bees, but offers our customers ultimate product traceability: a world first for honey.
Raising Money with Honey
We believe that we have a stake in one another, and that what binds us to the planet we all share, is nature.
Our honey products are paired with charities who are doing great things, and for each jar sold we make a donation to help them continue to make a difference to the planet and those we share it with.
