Regular price £160.00 Sale

Mead is the oldest alcoholic beverage known to humans, dating back at least to the Egyptians as a drink for the gods. From flowers to glass, join us on this funinteractive one day workshop to learn how to make your very own mead based on ancient monastic principles.

Our apiary at the farm is home to our native British honeybees, but you don't need to have a beehive to successfully make mead - you simply need honey.

The day begins at 10am and runs to approximately 2pm, here on our farm in Lincolnshire, just 4 minutes from Market Deeping, and 18 minutes from Peterborough and Stamford train stations.

We'll have welcome refreshments ready for when you arrive and, after a quick opportunity to say hello to your fellow workshop students, it's time for the fun to begin:

  • THE SOURCE: our day begins with a short tour of our almost entirely pollinator-friendly gardens, with bees and pollinators in mind to understand how different forage sources flavour honey.
  • THE BEES: at the farm apiary you'll enjoy a guided tour of one of our beehives to better understand how bees make honey and the important things to understand to get the finest tasting mead.
  • THE TASTE: we'll head back to the barn for a very special honey and mead tasting session - it's the very best way to understand the vast array of flavours that can be accomplished and how honey is used to create mead.
  • THE BREW: we use a variety of equipment to make mead, which you'll learn all about along with simple ways to do it at home without any specialist equipment. Get hands on with the equipment and starting your very own mead to take home!

There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and get practical advice on mead making and honey throughout the day.

We'll provide you with everything you need, including: locally sourced, home grown and organic refreshments; an organic pizza lunch cooked in our outdoor, wood-fired pizza oven; equipment and protective clothing. You'll leave with plenty of notes and resources, including the start of your very own mead!

All delegates will be required to sign a declaration in order to take part in the day’s activities. Suitable for ages 18+.

We like to run our workshops fairly and honestly. Your booking secures a very limited place, so is non-refundable - if you can’t make it, you can send a friend or colleague instead. If at the end of any of our workshops you haven't enjoyed yourself and don’t believe that it has helped you to achieve what it set out to, we will gladly refund you 100% of the price you paid.

We are actively trying to help the environment, so all workshop confirmations and supporting information will be emailed to you, including a reminder the week before the workshop with details and directions to the farm.

If you're able to car share, use public transport (we're just 18 minutes from Peterborough and Stamford train stations), cycle or have an electric car, please do.
