On selected dates throughout the year, we open up the farm for our hugely popular, exclusive experience days.

FUN-FILLED & HANDS ON

Awarded the Green Tourism gold award, join us on our Carbon Neutral honey farm, for a unique, up-close and personal tour of our honeybees, and a day in the life of a beekeeper...

“Thank you for a lovely day - the day was brilliant, relaxed atmosphere in extraordinary surroundings. Really had a lot of fun.” Alison

Our experience days begin at 10am and run to approximately 2pm, here on our organic farm just 4 minutes from Market Deeping and 18 minutes from Peterborough train station in Lincolnshire.

It's a fun-filled, hands-on, day which involves:

  • a short guided tour of the nectar gardens and the planting schemes we have created for an almost entirely pollinator-friendly site; why considering pollinators like the honeybee are important in your own garden or outside space and how simple it is to do.
  • a look at the day's jobs, which could include: helping to build new beehives; checking the health of our bees; equipment maintenance; building wax frames; preparing to extract honey; helping to rear queen bees; painting new hives; feeding colonies... it's always varied and you can choose to help with whatever you'd like to try!
  • we'll provide you with a beekeeper suit for the day so you can enjoy a guided tour of a working beehive - marvel at the bees as they work and learn how to spot the hive's queen. If you're lucky you may see bees being born and possibly even a "waggle dance", too!

“Thank you for a fabulous day; we really enjoyed the whole experience. Everything was exceptional, your knowledge, the refreshments, the build your own pizza’s, the honey. Just loved it all.” Kim and Carl

You'll be hands-on helping to inspect the colonies; taking photos, recording video and keeping records as our beekeepers explain what they are looking for, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions. Then we head back to the barn for a honey tasting session - a delicious way to learn about and taste a selection of different honey as unique as the areas the bees forage on.

UP-CLOSE WITH THE BEES

Beekeeping is dependent on the weather and the jobs required at the time of the year that you visit. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee what specific beekeeping elements your day will include but we always try to ensure you get to inspect a beehive. When the weather is too cold or wet to inspect the bees, we have many of our own video clips to show.

Suitable for ages 16+. Under 16s are welcome but must be accompanied by a paying adult (aged 18+).

WANT TO BRING A FRIEND?

If you'd like to bring someone else with you on your gift experience day, subject to availability you can purchase additional spaces below.

OUR EXPERIENCE DAYS ARE ALL-INCLUSIVE

We'll provide you with everything you need, including refreshments, an organic pizza lunch cooked in our outdoor, wood-fired pizza oven and bee keeping suits for the day. All of our ingredients are organic, locally sourced or home grown here on the farm. Bring a pair of wellies or sturdy boots with you, and please do not wear perfume or cologne as strong scents can cause problems for the bees. Do not drink alcohol the evening prior to attending. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

We are actively trying to help the environment, so all details will be emailed to you, including a reminder the week before your selected experience day, with directions to the farm.
